A Onda, It is a sculptural installation designed for the Ermida de São Roque in Tavira, Portugal. These types of installations, built with light modules, have emerged in the studio as a family of pieces that, through various conceptions of their internal mechanisms, acquire different dynamics in their functioning and concept.

This installation proposes a play of associations between the material wealth of Tavira’s past and the seemingly intangible resources that drive much of its current economy. Both sources of prosperity and wealth share a strong connection with their communication channels, the entry and exit points of their extractive history: in the past, it was the sea; in the present, it is the cloud. A cloud of digital connections that links this beautiful region of Portugal with the rest of the world.

Amid these two realities of Tavira’s past and present, the Ermida de São Roque, which hosts the installation, has witnessed and participated in the societal transformation from its ecclesiastical origins to its current cultural role.

A Onda is an installation created exclusively for Museu Zer0.

A table where a mountain of salt is placed that the public can touch and manipulate. The system reads the relief resulting from the salt and superimposes it on the image of the light wave and also on the projection of the projected sea wave.
A sea of light modules that are identified with a video in which you can see how a wave reaches the coast. The system reads the pixels of the video and sends them to the light piece.
